Thank-you! Mouth-to-Mouth at The Oxford a Big Hit!

A BIG BIG thank-you to everyone that made our MOUTH to MOUTH fund-raiser last Saturday a HUGE success - the venue was packed with supporters and Lifesavers! Thank-you to you all for your support in making it our most enjoyable and successful event ever! Everyone had a fantastic time dancing to Sydney's best DJ's who had donated their time - Dan Murphy, Alex Taylor and Jimmy Dee. Then at midnight, Joyce Maynge showed how to swim between sharks and lifesavers, and the lifesaver boys gave the crowd a taste of their famous best-in-show routine. Many thanks also to The Oxford Hotel for kindly making the space available! It has been a big help towards running our Mardi Gras 2011 entry!

Thank-you!

OR if you have room in your house for one or two other fellow Lifesavers, then please also contact Mark.

Can you STILL feel it?????

Hello there Award Winning Mardi Gras Parade People!!

This is Laurence here, your choreographer extraordinaire! We WANT YOU to come up to Coast OUT in Coffs Harbour, the first ever gay weekend there on 29-31st October for a fun filled, fabulous time. There will be a beach carnival, surf tournament, BBQ and two big parties featuring Bob Downe amongst many other artists. My mate Todd is running it and would love as many lifesavers as possible to attend and hopefully do a repeat performance of the parade number when the amazing singer Tania Doko performs the song "Can you feel it" and also have a strong presence as Lifesavers with Pride. Come on, pull your speedos back on, tie up your red and yellow caps, pop on your white vans and a big smile and 5, 6, 7, 8 and away we go!!!!!!!!!

5) PARTICIPATE - Register for the Surf Competition and/or the Beach Carnival (swims, runs, relays) - See attached forms. Come join the Lifesavers relay team - send your interest to mark.kuuse@gmail.com

So there you have it! Plenty of reason to get involved and have an amazing weekend on the beach to get the season started in more way than one!

PLEASE, let us know if you are going up so that we can co-ordinate the Lifesavers with Pride participation in the event - even if you only plan on attending and not volunteering! Email mark.kuuse@gmail.com and let him know. Many thanks!

See you in Coffs!

Dear All

Well it's finally here! Our final rehearsal!

Thank-you Sally for making it all happen at Monday's rehearsal - you were amazing! Our star choreographer Laurence is back and this is the most important rehearsal to attend!
__________________________

COLLECT SWIMWEAR ASAP! BRING YOUR CAP!

When: Arrive at 6:15 to get your Aussiebums or change into them
What: Dress Rehearsal on the Beach
Where: NORTH Bondi on the sand
Wear: PARADE UNIFORM (no shoes) - Change into parade gear - Aussiebums and Cap, use North Bondi clubhouse.
Who: Television (Channels 7, 9 and ABC) and Press will be taking video/photos for Mardi Gras news features! (see blog for previous years')
__________________________

Part 2) 7:30pm Rehearsal INDOORS at BONDI SURF CLUB - 200m SOUTH of North Bondi - Change back into your shorts etc

COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE (AT PART 2, NOT PART 1) - Please contact us if you are not coming THURSDAY. Even if you have already told us - you must reply again! We need to do an accurate count. No reply and no show Thursday will mean no entry wrist-band for you and no marching!

Why Compulsory:

1) FINAL PART OF ROUTINE TO LEARN - This rehearsal is the most important of them all. We have NOT yet finished learning the routine, there are a number of counts of eight left!! There is a whole all-change-position steps where back quarters move to become the front quarters!

2) SHOES - YOu will get your shoes tonight! There will be those who have ordered too big and those who have ordered too small. We need everyone there so we can swap. And there is NO OTHER chance to pick them up.

3) SWIMMERS - Unless you plan to go naked, you will need to pick-up your swimmers!!!!

4) POSITIONS - You will be allocated your final position.

5) GETTING IT RIGHT - Uniform single image is what we pride ourselves in. You need to be here to get the routine in synch with everyone. It is not fair on others to just wing-it!

Press: Make a splash with Lifesavers with Pride (SX News)

Written by Peter Hackney
Wednesday, 10 February 2010

A favourite with the crowds that throng the Mardi Gras Parade route, the Lifesavers with Pride are back in 2010 for their fourth sashay up Oxford Street, dressed in distinctive red and yellow.

This year, however, the group of gay and lesbian lifesavers wants to up the ante. While previous entries have featured a very strong contingent of Sydneysiders, this year the group wants to especially encourage queer lifesavers from outside Sydney to take part.

Read More at SX ...

The national group of gay and lesbian Australian surf lifesavers and their friends
